While most of the country is dealing with snow and cold during Christmas, Fort Lauderdale is enjoying beautiful sun and comfortable temperatures. However, that’s not all you can enjoy in the area in December. When you’re looking for something else that’s fun to do, check out these top Christmas activities in Fort Lauderdale.
Winterfest Boat Parade
The Winterfest Boat Parade calls itself the “Greatest Show on H20,” and there’s a good reason why. This 12-mile parade is on December 9, 2017, and begins on the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale before heading east up the Intracoastal Waterway and then north to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. During the parade, you’ll see everything from private boats to luxury yachts decorated with thousands of lights.
Fort Lauderdale Christmas Pageant
The Fort Lauderdale Christmas Pageant is a holiday tradition that’s over 30 years strong. Opening night is November 30, 2017, and there will be 15 performances through December 17. The pageant is a Broadway-style show that features over 300 performers in extravagant costumes who sing and dance to familiar carols and original pieces. Plus, the show adds a new act every year, so there’s always something different to see.
Hollywood Beach Candy Cane Parade
The Hollywood Beach Candy Cane Parade is one of the longest-running holiday parades in the country. It started in the mid-1950s by store owners who wanted to attract patrons to their businesses. Today it features hundreds of festive dancers and dozens of lighted floats with participants who toss out mints and candy canes. The parade is on December 2, 2017, at 7 p.m., and it starts on the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk before heading south to Harrison Street.
