Fun Holiday Activities for the Family

Posted on Family and Home, Holidays December 9, 2014

We’ve compiled a few events taking place all throughout South Florida this holiday season that are great for spending time with the family. These events are affordable (or free), and entertaining for kids and parents of any age. At All Year Cooling, we love spending time with our family, especially when we can get out in the community and have some fun!

1. Hollywood Holiday Market

Happening this Sunday the 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Hollywood Holiday Market will have antiques, handmade items, and collectables to help you wrap up your holiday shopping. The free, family-friendly event will take place on South 20th Avenue and Harrison Street in Downtown Hollywood.

2. Santa’s Enchanted Forest

Food, rides, live shows, games, and holiday light displays are in store for all who visit this twinkling wonderland. Running now through January 4th 2015, there’s something for the entire family to enjoy. You can purchase a day pass, or a season pass (or you can enter our giveaway for four FREE tickets!) and experience a fun night out for the entire family.

3. Family Hayride and Campfires

The family Hayride and Campfire series is happening in parks all over Broward County alternating Fridays this month. For $3.50 per person, you get a hayride and a bag of goodies to make s ‘mores over the campfire. This unique event is a treat for us South Floridians, so make sure you take the kids to experience this one! Note: Most of the parks offering the event require preregistration (except T.Y. Park).

4. Dolphin Mall’s Magical Snowfall

Snow in South Florida? Only at Dolphin Mall! From now until January 4th snow flurries are in the forecast at Dolphin Mall’s Ramblas Plaza starting at 7:00 p.m. Since this will probably be the only snowfall we’ll be seeing this winter, make sure to take the kids to this cool event.

5. Night of Lights

Pinecrest Gardens is all dressed up for the holidays! Night of Lights runs varying days from late November through January 3rd, including every night the week of Christmas, from 6:00 p.m. through 9:00 p.m. The events vary by day, but you can expect pony rides, story time, a visit from Santa, live music and performances. Tickets are $5.00 and parking is free. Grab the kids and head to Pinecrest Gardens for this event benefitting the Live Like Bella foundation.

 6. Zoo Lights

Zoo Miami is hosting a special holiday event from December 19th through December 30th from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. There will be large-scale light installations throughout the zoo, plus holiday- themed food, Carolers, ice skating, carousel rides and photos with Santa. The light-spotting at this event is taken to the next level with a free pair of 3D glasses that create a holographic effect. There are several admission packages available; pricing starts at $5.00.

7. Deering Holiday Wonderland

The houses of Deering Estate are beautiful all year round, but it’s even more special during the holiday season. Richmond Cottage and Stone House have all been meticulously decorated with almost 1,000 feet of garland, handmade wreaths, and ornaments. Guided tours are available, or you can explore on your own. Admission to the Holiday Wonderland attraction is included in general admission (which is $12.00 for adults, $7.00 for kids under 14).
